The purpose of this initiative is to encourage hypothesis-driven research by multidisciplinary teams of investigators that will investigate mechanisms by which the gut microbiota modulate pre- and postnatal neurodevelopment, brain function, and behavioral domains relevant to the mission of NIMH.
